TWO DIMENSIONS: The new Batman movie won't be in 3-D. Director Christopher Nolan isn't a fan of it and says he doesn't want to shoot in a format just to charge higher ticket prices.
ALTERNATIVE: Nolan is instead backing the huge-screen IMAX format. He shot nearly half of the movie using bulky IMAX cameras, whose frame is about 10 times the size of a standard movie camera. IMAX screenings also cost more.
THE MOVIE: "The Dark Knight Rises" is the finale of Nolan's superhero trilogy. It began with 2005's "Batman Begins" and continued with 2008's "The Dark Knight."
