Later this month, companies with movie studios will begin releasing their earnings reports for the latest quarter. They will generally cover the July-September period, though some companies have fiscal quarters that depart from that.

Here's the schedule for selected movie industry companies. The date for 20th Century Fox owner News Corp. is not yet known.

- Friday: Comcast Corp. (Universal Pictures)

- Oct. 30: DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc.

- Nov. 1: Sony Corp.

- Nov. 7: Time Warner Inc. (Warner Bros.)

- Nov. 8: The Walt Disney Co.

- Nov. 15: Viacom Inc. (Paramount)
