Former Detroit wide receiver Titus Young is in jail in California, facing charges of attempted burglary, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.
The NFL says it reached out to him 18 months ago, long before he punched a teammate, intentionally lined up wrong during a game and got himself arrested three times in less than a week.
Troy Vincent, the NFL's senior vice president for player engagement, says someone close to Young contacted the league. But, he says, Young rejected several offers for help.
