Transfer running backs bring maturity, experience to CWU football

ELLENSBURG, Wash. -- A duo of running backs emerged as stars for Central Washington football. All Demetrius Sumler and Johri Fogerson needed another chance to shine.

In Saturday's 56-28 win over Simon Fraser, the pair rushed for a total of 257 yards and six touchdowns. Both backs transferred to Central Washington after getting their undergraduate degrees elsewhere.

"We have two excellent running backs. Demetrius Sumler is doing a great job. This is his second game after being out of football for a couple of years. He is a transfer from the University of Colorado, very physical 220-pound runner. Then there's obviously the addition of Johri Fogerson, a transfer from the University of Washington. He was injured for our first game, finally was healthy. He got going in the second half," head coach Blaine Bennett said.
