Gonzaga University women's basketball senior Taelor Karr was named West Coast Conference Player of the Week Monday.

Karr helped the Bulldogs to a 2-0 opening week in West Coast Conference play by averaging 21.0 points, 4.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game. She hit 14-of-20 from the field (70.0 percent) and an even more impressive 11-of-13 from beyond the 3-point arc (84.6 percent).

Karr began conference play scoring a career-high and Zag season-high 27 points in the Bulldogs 77-57 win over the University of San Diego. Twenty-four of her 27 points came from behind the 3-point arc, nailing 8-of-9. Her eight 3-pointers were one shy of tying the Gonzaga single-game record of nine. Karr also tied a career-high in steals with five, a high she previously recorded as a member of the Kansas State women's basketball team, and dished out four assists and grabbed five rebounds.

She followed that performance up scoring 15 points in Gonzaga's 79-50 victory over Santa Clara University. She continued her hot shooting, sinking 5-of-8 from the field, including 3-of-4 3-pointers. She also handed out another four assists.

The week also saw her break the 1,000-point plateau in her career, now having scored 1,020.

This is Karr's first career WCC Player of the Week accolade.

Also nominated: Morgan Bailey, BYU; Alex Cowling, Loyola Marymount; Danielle Mauldin, Saint Mary's; Amy Kame, San Diego
