One of Washington State's starting offensive lineman may be lost for the season, but no matter. The team is all about staying focused as opening day approaches.
Starting right tackle Rico Forbes suffered a torn ACL, two sources reportedly told Cougfan.com on Thursday. Of course, coach Mike Leach doesn't talk about injuries, so take the report for what it's worth.
The bigger focus, Leach says, is preparing for BYU three weeks from now.
Until then, the players continue to grind it out on the practice field. While running drills in the heat can get tiresome and repetitive, they need to stay focused.
"When we get tired in the dog-days of camp like this we need to stay mentally sharp," said quarterback Jeff Tuel. "Your legs will start to go but you just have to stay on top of it and know what your assignments are."
"It definitely gets repetitive," said safety Deone Buccanon. "But at the end of the day you have to be mentally tough and just think ‘next play'. Get in here and go as hard as you can so you can perform on the field when it's game day."
