Petersen bats away latest links to coaching jobs

BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Chris Petersen is taking a different approach to the annual rumors tying him to college football's latest coaching vacancies.

This time, the Boise State coach is trying humor.

When asked Monday about his name being linked to new openings, Petersen simply looked at his watch and laughed - joking that reporters waited 22 minutes before asking the question.

As usual, Petersen says the rumors are false and that he's got no plans to leave the Broncos.

Petersen's name surfaces annually because the Broncos have been wildly successful during his 7-year tenure. Since taking over, Petersen has built a record of 82-8 and a winning percentage of .911, the best in the college ranks.

Earlier this year, Petersen signed a contract extension that pays him more than $2 million per year.
