The Spokane Chiefs cut their roster down to 27 players before Saturday's opener at Tri-City. Among those on the list: defensive specialist Brenden Kichton.
Kichton was sidelined during the playoffs last season because of a broken jaw. He was selected by the New York Islanders in the 5th round of the 2011 NHL entry draft, but with the league in lockout he is back in Spokane.
And he couldn't be happier.
"Win a championship, that's the biggest thing," said Kichton. "I'm back and I want to get my first WHL Memorial Cup ring."
Still, Spokane has four 20-year-olds on the roster. They need to cut that down to three before Saturday.
This weekend's game at the Toyota Center will be shown live on SWX in the Spokane region. The puck drops at 7 p.m.
