Golly! Galdeira Earns Second Straight Freshman of the Week Award

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – For the second consecutive week, Washington State guard Lia Galdeira has been named Pac-12 Conference Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Galdeira earns her second career honor after leading the Cougars in scoring in road contests against No. 14 Louisville and Syracuse. The Kamuela, Hawaii native scored 13 points and made three steals at Louisville before posting 16 points and a team-best six rebounds at Syracuse while also hitting a pair of threes.

Galdeira has led WSU in scoring six times this season including the last three games. She paces the Cougars in scoring at 14.9 ppg and is second in the Pac-12 with 32 steals. Galdeira earned the same honor last week after posting 15 points and six rebounds in the win over No. 20 Ohio State.

It's the first time in program history that a Cougar has won a weekly award in consecutive weeks and it's the first time WSU has had multiple weekly accolades in a season since Jenni Ruff earned three weekly honors during the 1995-96 season.

Washington State faces Gonzaga University Saturday at 2 p.m. SWX will televise the game.
