GAMEDAY! Washington State Not Overlooking 0-2 UNLV

It is gameday for the Cougars, as Mike Leach and his team try their luck in Las Vegas against UNLV.

The game at Sam Boyd Stadium will be live on ESPN to a national audience – their second such game of the young season.

Washington State earned their first win of the season last week with a victory over Eastern Washington. On the flip side, UNLV is 0-2 to start the year.

The Cougars dominated UNLV last season 59-7, but there is no overlooking this year's squad.

"First of all, any team that doesn't give the other team credit is out of their mind," said Leach this week. "That's just wrong, it's short-sighted and the surest sign of a bad football team. It should all be based on whether you're doing the best and whether you're improving."

Leach said regardless of both teams records, there is a lot of talent on both sides of the ball – whether it has been evident thus far into the season or not.

"The other thing is, this is a different team than they were last year," he said. "UNLV is a different team – a much-improved team. They're disappointed with their results but they've got some weapons out there that are getting ready to un-cork, and we do too!"

Friday's game gets underway at 6 p.m. on ESPN.
