Former Rowers To Race In Coeur d'Alene Ironman Sunday

SPOKANE, Wash. - Six former Gonzaga University women's rowers will race in the Coeur d'Alene Ironman Sunday. Katie Atkins (2006-09), Samantha Cekovic (2007-10), Courtney Haase (2000-03), Karen O'Hagen (2002-05), Julie Smetana (2005-08) and Alissa Stempson (2007-10) will each participate in the 10th annual Ironman in Coeur d'Alene.
The Ironman is a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and 26.2 mile run around the picturesque town of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
Atkins, Haase, O'Hagen and Smetana each raced in the 2011 Coeur d'Alene Ironman. Atkins finished the course in 12:20.49 a year ago; while Haase had a time of 12:46.09, Smetana finished in 13:18.45 and O'Hagan had a time of 13:53.59.
Fans can follow the former rowers as they embark on daunting day at www.ironman.com. Bib numbers for the participants are as follows: Atkins - 146, Cekovic - 132, Haase - 279, O'Hagen - 205, Smetana - 166, Stempson - 131.
