Former Eastern Washington Eagle Nathan Overbay has joined the Pittsburgh Steelers for training camp in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
Overbay, a tight end, had participated in minicamp in Houston but was still looking for a place to play during training camp when the Steelers called and signed him. Overbay has also spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Detroit Lions in his three-year NFL career. The Steelers are somewhat thin at the tight end position right now, with starer Heath Miller and fullback David Johnson both on the physically unable to perform list.
Overbay, the nephew of New York Yankee first baseman Lyle Overbay, resides in Spokane and recently trained locally at APX Strength, also working on his longsnapping with Cleveland Browns punter T.J. Conley.
