Eastern Washington Ranked #1

CHENEY, Wash. - The stars have aligned for the Eastern Washington Eagles. Four of the top five teams in FCS lost last week, opening the door for the Eagles to move up to #1 in the rankings.

Eastern Washington earned a victory over second-ranked Montana State this past Saturday and moved up five spots to #1. This makes three straight seasons that Eagles have been on top.

Along with the move up in the rankings, Junior Linebacker Ronnie Hamlin was selected as the ROOT Sports Defensive Player of the Week after a team-high 15 tackles and a key interception.

Redshirt Freshman Safety Jordan Tonani scored an interception return for a touchdown and was selected as the College Sports Madness National FCS Defensive Player of the Week.

Senior Defensive End Paul Ena and Senior Kicker Jimmy Pavel received honorable mentions.

The Eagles and their new #1 ranking will take on Sacramento State this Saturday at Roos Field with kickoff at 4:05pm.
