Eagles Focus on Turnovers Heading to Southern Utah

Eastern Washington remains at the top of the FCS another week, and much of the credit can go to the Eagle defense.

The No. 1 Eagle defense.

Eastern Washington is No. 1 in the Big Sky when it comes to scoring defense. Anyone who has watched any games this season can say the turnovers the Eagles have created have been a major factor in the outcomes.

"We preach that every week – turnovers, turnovers, turnovers," said linebacker Tyler Washburn. "We see that in every game we've watched. The turnover margin indicates whether teams are winning or losing. So we're out here practicing and trying to create turnovers and you see it carry over to games."

The Eagles hope for multiple turnovers this weekend against Southern Utah in Cedar City. The defense will have to find a way to contain quarterback Brad Sorenson, a gunslinger with a strong, accurate arm who almost led his team to an upset over EWU in 2010.
