Dance Team Tryouts for Spokane Shock Set for Jan. 12

The Spokane Shock will host tryouts for the 2013 Rockstar Dance Team in January in Spokane.

The first round of tryouts - closed to the public - will be Jan. 12 at the HUB Sports Center in the Liberty Lake area. Those who get called back will move on to the final round on Jan. 24 at Northern Quest Resort and Casino. The final round will be open the public.

NEWS RELEASE BY SPOKANE SHOCK:

The Shock will be hosting tryouts for the 2013 Spokane Shock Rockstar Dance Team this January 2013.

First Round Tryouts will take place on Saturday, January 12th, 2013 at the HUB Sports Center (19619 E. Cataldo in Liberty Lake, WA 99016). Tryouts will take place on the second-level of the HUB with registration scheduled to take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and instruction beginning promptly at 11:30 a.m. led by Dance Team Coordinator Maggie Kazemba. First Round Tryouts is a closed event and not open to public viewing; participants and instructors only.

Participants should wear form-fitting, two-piece dance outfits and comfortable shoes. No Jazz pants or baggy pants will be allowed. Dance briefs or boy shorts should be worn with skin tone pantyhose. It is suggested that participants bring make-up/hair products, a towel, bottle of water and a snack. There will be access to a private locker room upstairs in the HUB Sports Center near the Dance Floor and Rooms.

After instruction and warm-ups, participants will learn across the floor combinations; including basic kicks and turns integrated into a few short, repeating sideline dance routines. Participants will perform in small groups and first cuts will be established after the completion of the First Round Instructional Period.

Call backs will take place the afternoon of January 13th, 2013 (day after First Round) in which participants will be invited to the Final Round production to take place on January 24th, 2013.

The Final Round will take place on January 24th, 2013 at Northern Quest Resort and Casino. Precise start time of the event and Ticket information will be announced next week.

Dance Team candidates will go through individual and small group routines with interviews taking place for each candidate between routines. This event is open to public viewing. Participants will be graded by a panel of judges consisting of Shock Staff and special community guests. Finalists will be announced at the conclusion of the event.

Requirements to Register:

·   Must be 18 years of age or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent

·   Bring photo identification

·   Recent photo 4x6 or larger (will not be returned)

·   Dance resume (simple typed history of experience if applicable)

·   $20 fee – cash or money order

·   Completed medical liability release (available on site)

·   Completed 2013 Dance Team Application (available at www.spokaneshock.com/sportscamps or by emailing info@spokaneshock.com)
