At times the Cougars have shown flashes of excellence. If only they could piece it together consistently.
Washington State hopes to put it all together this weekend against Cal – a team that has also had some ups and downs this season.
While the team is focused on picking up its first conference win, they are also trying to avoid putting extra pressure on themselves.
"I would say any win is what we need," said freshman linebacker Darryl Monroe. "It's what any team needs. No one needs a loss, no one wants to lose. Everyone wants to go undefeated. So, how much do we need to win from another team needing to win? I think it's all the same. If you don't like to win then why are you playing the sport?"
"They'll be coming in ready to play and we will too," said receiver Gino Simone about the Golden Bears. "All we can do is try to bring our best game and just worry about us."
Saturday's game at Martin Stadium is a late one. It starts at 7:30 p.m. and will be televised on Pac-12 Networks.
