Chiefs: Victory Over Tri-City Would Be Sweet

The Spokane Chiefs are now just one day away from opening the regular season, with Game 1 being a rivalry match against Tri-City at the Toyota Center.

The Chiefs won both games against the Americans during the preseason and will be looking to continue that success on Saturday.

The players know it is important to start the season with a win, but another victory over the Ams would be that much sweeter.

"Any game against Tri is always fun – high intensity, sold out barns. It's really fun," said the Chiefs' Collin Valcourt.

"You want to make sure we have a better outing than we did last year," said coach Don Nachbaur. "Our first game in Tri-Cities last year wasn't a stellar outing for us and we had to regroup and get the ball rolling in the right direction… If we follow up with a big effort we'll probably get a victory."

Saturday's game will be aired on SWX in the Spokane area at 7 p.m.
