PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. – This time, Mac Engel didn't stand a chance.

The Spokane Chiefs – led by two goals from Todd Fiddler and three assists from Brenden Kichton – scored five times in the third and won their second straight game, 6-1 over Prince George on Tuesday.

The Chiefs (9-3-0-0, 18 points) moved into second place in the Western Hockey League's U.S. Division, one point ahead of Portland and two behind first-place Tri-City.

The game was tied at 1 after two. Mitch Holmberg scored early in the third and less than a minute later assisted Colin Valcourt's power-play goal.

Tyler King rifled a shot past Engel, who was traded from Spokane to Prince George two weeks ago, and Dylan Walchuk made it a 5-1 Spokane lead.

Fiddler went top shelf with a one-timer past Engel on a feed from Liam Stewart as Spokane scored shorthanded for the late 6-1 lead.

"We won the first shift (in the third), and boy oh boy, we won the second, and away we (went)," Chiefs general manager Tim Speltz said.

Spokane's Eric Williams turned away 22 of 23 shots.
