Chicago State to Join WAC in 2013

As the conference realignment carousel turns, the WAC got a seventh member Wednesday, as Chicago State has agreed to join the league.

"We are pleased to welcome Chicago State University to the WAC family," said WAC Interim Commissioner Jeff Hurd in a statement. "As the Western Athletic Conference continues to evolve, we look forward to their contributions including the addition of another large media market to our league. We are also thrilled to be able to provide Chicago State with many more championship opportunities for their student-athletes."

Chicago State is bringing all 14 of its sports to the WAC and plans on adding men's and women's soccer in 2014.

Next year's WAC membership includes California State University, Bakersfield; Grand Canyon University; University of Idaho; New Mexico State University; Seattle University and Utah Valley University.

Idaho has said it would leave the WAC in 2014 and place all of its sports except for football in the Big Sky Conference.
