Most everyone by now has had an exhibition game. Not Washington State. The Cougars hold their first and only preseason game on Tuesday – four days before the start of the regular season.
For a team that has grown increasingly tired of practicing against each other day in and day out, Tuesday cannot come soon enough.
"We've been practicing for what seems like a long time," said center Brock Motum. "We're looking forward to games starting – the rhythm. I think our chemistry will be good come game time."
"It's going to be fun next week to play against someone different," said DaVonte Lacy, now a sophomore in Pullman. "When you play against the same guys, you can only do so much. It actually helps because you have to come up with different moves, otherwise they know what you're going to do."
The Cougars host Saint Martins on Tuesday in Pullman. Their first regular season game is Nov. 10 against Eastern Washington. That game will be broadcast on Pac-12 Networks.
