BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - For an Australian, LSU punter Brad Wing has turned out to be quite the All-American.
Now a redshirt sophomore, Wing could very well turn pro after only his second season of college football.
At some point, although he won't specify when, Wing hopes to realize the NFL dream that his father, David, briefly chased with the Detroit Lions two decades ago.
Wing says right now his focus is on two immediate goals: Helping third-ranked LSU win a national title and winning the Ray Guy Award as the nation's best punter.
Wing also wants to pave the way for more Aussie's to try American college football, and says he's gratified that LSU already has recruited his successor, Jamie Keehn, from Down Under.
LSU hosts Idaho on Saturday night.
