Water Main Break Causes Extensive Damage

SPOKANE, Wash. At 8:46 P.M. fire crews responded to a water main break on 9th Ave. near Ivory Street on the South Hill. At around 9:15 Saturday morning, the Spokane City Water Crews turned off the water, and by 3:00 PM they turned the water back on. But the damage was done for at least 3 neighbors in the area. Many basements were flooded, including Shannon Kozlovich's home. Her basement was completely flooded, with extensive damage. She rents out her basement to Tim Bleeker, who was the first one to notice the water pouring into his room from one of the windows. "I got up and pulled the curtains opened and the water level was already this high up showing outside the window," Bleeker said. Kozlovich said there wasn't much she could do. "There was absolutely nothing I could do to stop it. What am I going to do besides save the stuff I can," said Kozlovich.
