SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - An 18-year-old has drowned in the Spokane River. It happened on Tuesday afternoon just west of Sullivan in Spokane Valley.
Authorities tell KHQ that the teen was swimming with his girlfriend before he drowned. They were not wearing life jackets.
Bystanders pulled the man out of the water and administered CPR until medics arrived but he could not be revived.
MedStar responded to the scene but it was not needed. Fire crews used a boat to retrieve the body. The male victim has not been identified.
Crews had a challenge getting to the scene because of the terrain.
