UPDATE: Suspects Break Into Spokane County Couple's Home While They Were Asleep

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. - It's every homeowner's nightmare; waking up in the middle of the night to people inside your home.

That's what happened to a husband and wife in the 8500 block of East Red Oak Drive in Spokane County just after midnight Tuesday morning. The couple awoke to a loud noise, either their door being forced in, or the glass breaking. The wife looked downstairs and saw two men in their foyer, just outside a guest bedroom.

The couple called 911 and the suspects took off on foot before police arrived. Despite a search with a K9 team they were never caught.

"The door jam was torn out," said a neighbor. "They have re-screwed it in, but the [suspects] must have hit it with some terrific force."

Neighbors tell KHQ this is actually the second time the victims have been targeted; their son's car was broken into over Thanksgiving in their driveway, and the family's Christmas presents were taken.

Now, they've been hit again.

"You never like to be violated," that neighbor added. "And that was violation personified, I'd say."

Because it all happened so quickly – and in the dark – the only description of the suspects is they may be white men, wearing white tank-tops and dark shorts, however the homeowners can not be sure.

>>>A reward is being offered through Crime Stoppers, for information leading to an arrest in this case.  If you saw anything suspicious in the area, call 1-800-222-TIPS.
