PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE POLICE DEPT: On 12/26/12 around 4:30 am Spokane Police Department officers responded to the Tesoro gas station at 901 E. Sharp on the report of a large fight where one of the involved subjects was stabbed.
Arriving on scene officers found an adult male with what appeared to be a stab wound to the back. After treatment at the hospital it appears the injury is not life threatening. Two groups of men were involved in the fight and one group left prior to police arriving. The suspects were not located and the case is going to detectives for further investigation.
The suspect in the stabbing was described as a black male in his mid forties who was shorter than average with a medium build. He was reportedly carrying a cane with him.

SPOKANE, Wash. - A man was stabbed early Wednesday morning at a gas station near Gonzaga University, according to Spokane Police.
Spokane Emergency Responders were called to the scene just after 4:30AM. Police say that a man was stabbed after he and other men got into a fight at the Tesoro gas station at Hamilton and Sharp.
Police tell us that when the stabbing victim was transported to the hospital, he was conscious and alert, despite a stab wound to the upper torso.
Police will be looking at surveillance footage from the Tesoro to see if they can gather any more information about the incident.
Police say a dark SUV was seen leaving the area after the stabbing but at this point it is unknown if there is any connection.
Spokane Police do not have a description of the attacker, nor do they have the condition of the man who was stabbed.
