PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE POLICE DEPT: Spokane Police arrested two people after one pointed a gun at an employee at a Shadle Wal-Mart, the suspects fled from responding officers and were stopped with a PIT maneuver.
34-year-old Jennifer Myers and 32-year-old Trevor Myers were booked for 1stRobbery among other charges. On 07-01-13 around midnight, Spokane Police officers responded to an armed robbery of the Shadle Wal-Mart, 2301 W. Wellesley. An employee confronted a female who had activated a security alarm while leaving the business.
When the employee contacted the female, a male who was accompanying the suspect, pointed a handgun at the Wal-Mart employee.
The two suspects fled. Employees gave police a good description of the suspects, suspect vehicle description, direction of travel and a partial license plate. An officer quickly located the suspect vehicle at Ash/NW Blvd stopped at a red light.
When the officer stopped behind the vehicle, the vehicle drove through the red light at a high rate of speed in an attempt to elude the police officer. The officer used a PIT maneuver (Pursuit Intervention Technique) designed to stop a pursuit on the suspect vehicle.
The vehicle was stopped at 17th/Walnut where the two suspects were taken into custody. 32-year-old Trevor Myers was booked for 1stRobbery and Attempt to Elude and 34 year-old Jennifer Myers was booked for 1stRobbery and Violation of a Protection Order.
This incident is an example of how good information from witnesses, including suspect and vehicle descriptions, helps police to quickly locate and apprehend suspects.
