AIRWAY, Wash. - A Fairchild Airman died when a car pulled in front of his motorcycle Friday morning. 24-year-old Emory Corwine of Andoever, New York was driving his 1980 Yamaha XS850G motorcycle eastbound on Highway 2 when the driver of a Cadillac turned onto the highway without yielding.
Emory was immediately transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Cadillac, who has been identified as 36-year-old Shelly Willoughby of Spokane, was not injured. Corwine was wearing a helmet at the time.
Corwine was assigned to the 336th Training Group (SERE, Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Escape). In a statement, Fairchild Air Force Base Col. Paul Guemmer said "The Airman's family, friends and unit are in our thoughts and prayers." Washington State Patrol Troopers are still investigating.
