PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE VALLEY POLICE DEPT:
On Tuesday morning, July 23, 2013, at 2:45 a.m., Spokane Valley Sheriff's Deputies responded to the 17600 block of East Alki Road to a call of an adult male that had broke into a residence. While deputies were en route to the first residence, a separate homeowner on Alki called 911 reporting a male had broke into their home as well.
Sheriff's Deputy Joe Bodman and a Spokane City K9 unit were at the second residence when they heard what they believed to be someone attempting to kick a door south of their location.
Deputy Bodman and the Spokane City K9 unit located 28-year-old Jason Jones at a third residence near Long Road and Olive Lane. They saw Jones had kicked the front door in and also broke the side window of a vehicle in the driveway. The homeowners were out of town.
Refusing to follow commands, the city K9 was deployed. Jones continued to fight with the city K9 unit and a taser application was applied to Jones. He was taken into custody at that point.
Deputies quickly realized Jones was possibly in a state of Excited Delirium and requested medics to the scene. Jones was transported to a local hospital. Once he is cleared to be released, Jones will be booked into the Spokane County Jail on three counts of Residential Burglary, Malicious Mischief, Obstructing and Resisting Arrest.
None of the homeowners were injured and the only item that was taken and returned was a purse from one of the victims.
