UPDATE: Man Killed After Own Vehicle Runs Over Him

My Fox Spokane Biz

Spokane Police Department Press Release:
A Spokane man was killed when the car he is working on started and dragged
him while he was underneath.
On Monday 7/2/12 at about 11:25 am Spokane Fire Department units responded to
the intersection of Nettleton and Dean on an aid call. Arriving on scene they
found an adult male pinned under a car. They had to jack up the car to extricate
the man. Paramedics attempted to revive the man, but he was pronounced dead at
the scene.
Investigators from the Spokane Police Department's Major Crimes Unit
responded to the site to investigate and process the scene. Investigators
determined the death was an accident. The man was working on the electrical
system of a car in front of his home. The car, which was in gear with the keys
in the ignition, started and dragged the man approximately 150 feet before the
car came to a stop.
The man killed in the accident was identified as Spokane resident, Albert
Garcia (73 years of age).
The police department wants to encourage anyone working on vehicles to take
safety precautions,  to include the use of proper jack stands and to consider
the possibility that another vehicle could strike a vehicle they are working
underneath.
