FROM THE IDAHO STATE POLICE: At approximately 2:16 PM on Saturday the Idaho State Police received a call of a suspicious package at the eastbound Huetter Rest Area on Interstate 90. Officers arrived on scene and located the item.
They evacuated the area and requested the Spokane Bomb Disposal Unit respond. The Spokane Bomb Disposal Unit arrived and x-rayed the package and deemed it not to be an explosive device. The rest area was closed for approximately and hour and a half.
UPDATE: The Idaho State Police tells KHQ that it was a suspicious package that forced them to call in the Spokane County Bomb Squad. It turns out that the package was harmless.
KHQ.COM - On Saturday the Idaho State Police and the Spokane Bomb Squad responded to the rest area/weigh station on I-90 eastbound just east of Post Falls. The area was closed to traffic as the bomb squad investigated but has since re-opened. At this hour we're awaiting more details. As soon as we get them we'll post them.
