UPDATE: Inmate Electrocuted In Stevens County

UPDATE: KHQ has confirmed that an inmate was electrocuted. Officials are calling this a very tragic situation. We're awaiting more details from authorities.

UPDATE: There was an industrial death on Cemetery Rd. about 3 miles south of Springdale on Monday. Authorities tell us that trees that were close to power lines were being thinned at the time of the accident.

Officials with Stevens Co. Sheriff's Office and DNR say they cannot confirm at this point if the worker was electrocuted or that one of the trees came in contact with a power line. Right now authorities are trying to notify next of kin of the deceased worker. Investigators have been called into the scene to figure out exactly what happened. Avista is also investigating.
