STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. - The Stevens County Sheriff's Department confirmed with KHQ on Sunday that they have located the 21-year-old who drowned on the Little Spokane River Friday night.
Stevens County Sgt. Caruso says the man was found in about 10 feet of water Sunday afternoon. He was not wearing a life jacket.
Because of the current, the Sheriff's Department asked Avista if they could lower the water levels in the river to that they could retrieve the body.
Sgt. Caruso wanted to acknowledge the joint effort between the Stevens County Sheriff's Office, the Stevens County Dive Team, the Spokane Tribal Police, and Avista for their help in the search.

STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. - The Stevens County Sheriff's Department confirmed with KHQ Saturday afternoon that they are looking for a man who is presumed drowned after he went missing on the Little Spokane River near Long Lake Friday evening.
Sgt. Jim Caruso said that 21-year-old Spokane man was swimming with a group of people when he went underwater and never resurfaced. He was not wearing a life jacket. Sgt. Caruso says there is no indication that the man made it to shore and their efforts have now turn from rescue to recovery.
So far they haven't been able to locate the man and are now waiting for sonar and a dive team to come in, which might not be until Sunday.
The man has not yet been identified.
