UPDATE: Deadly New Year's Eve Shooting In Northeast Spokane

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE POLICE DEPT: On 12/31/12 at about 10:09 pm a citizen called 911 reporting that people had been shot at the Neighborhood Grocery store at 3400 E. Euclid, and that a single suspect had fled from the store.

Spokane Police Department officers arrived on scene less than a minute after being dispatched. They found one male deceased and another suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. 

Officers found a crashed vehicle a short distance away at Thor and Carlisle. A Sheriff's Office police helicopter subsequently spotted the suspect hiding along the river under the Greene Street Bridge.

The suspect was taken into custody by officers directed to his location by the helicopter. The injured person from the store was transported to a local hospital where he is in critical condition and getting treatment for his injuries.

SPOKANE, Wash. - At least one person is dead after a shooting in Hillyard in the area of Euclid and Thor. It happened after 10pm on Monday night at "Neighborhood Grocery."

Another person was wounded in the shooting. At least one person is in custody. Air 1 was involved in the search efforts for the suspect. The motive behind the shooting is unknown and so far no identities have been released.

The victim who survived the shooting was talking to officers as they were being hauled away on a stretcher.
