PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE: Since the horrific events that took place in Connecticut on December 14, 2012, Concealed Pistol License (CPL) applicants in Spokane County have overwhelmed Police Records as well as Forensics. The number of applicants have jumped to three to four times the amount per day compared to the numbers prior to December 14th.   Police Records and Forensics personnel would like the public to know that the expected wait to apply for a CPL can range anywhere from two to three hours. Applications are submitted at the Public Safety Building located at 1100 W. Mallon, Spokane, Wa 99260.  Applicants can print off and complete the application on-line at Spokanepolice.org.  However, applicants have to come to the Public Safety Building to submit the application in person. A background check and fingerprints are also required. Successful applicants will have permits mailed to them as soon as possible after they are accepted.   Hours of operation are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Citizens need to be advised that if there are too many applicants to finish processing by 4:00 p.m., there will be no additional applicants accepted after 1:30 p.m. New applications cost $52.50.  Renewal fee is $32.00.
