UPDATE: Child With Candle Starts North Spokane House Fire

SPOKANE, Wash. - Investigators say a 5-year-old playing with a candle started a house fire Sunday in N. Spokane.    The parents gathered all three of their children and safely escaped, but house they were renting was heavily damaged.

PREVIOUS STORY:

SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Firefighters responded to a house fire just before 8:00AM Sunday morning in the 5800 block of north Elgin in north Spokane.

When crews arrived they saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the front and north side of the home. Firefighters immediately began their attack and were able to knock down the flames before the fire consumed the entire house. The majority of the fire was confined to the front room and a bedroom on the side of the house, however, the rest of the house also suffered some sort of smoke or water damage.

We are told a family lives in the home, but everyone made it out safely and their were no injuries to report.

The cause is under investigation right now, but we are told that a candle may have played a factor.

As soon as we get any more information we'll update this story.
