Spokane County Sheriff Department Press Release: On Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at 9:00 a.m., Spokane Sheriff's Deputy T. Warner was dispatched to Waterfront Beach at Medical Lake for a possible drowning. A Medical Lake City employee at the park located a 36 year old female floating about ten feet from the shore at Waterfront Park. Deputy Warner arrived on scene and pulled the female out of the water onto the beach. Deputy Warner began life saving procedures and quickly realized the female was deceased. Medics arrived on scene and confirmed the female had been deceased for an unknown amount of time. Major Crimes detectives were called to the scene to conduct a death investigation. Any time the Sheriff's Office responds to a call involving a death, that is not obviously natural, investigators treat it as a crime scene until it can be proven otherwise. After the scene was processed, the female was released to the Medical Examiner's Office who performed an autopsy this afternoon. The Medical Examiner's Office concluded that the cause of death was drowning. The Medical Examiner's Office will release the name of the female pending next of kin notification. Previous Coverage:
