Three Morning Crashes In Spokane County, Two DUI Charges

SPOKANE, Wash. - Three crashes around Spokane County closed roads for hours Friday morning, while law enforcement charged two drivers with DUI.

Spokane Police Officers responded to a vehicle that hit a semi-truck head-on in a collision on the E. 3900 block of Broadway at about 3:45AM Friday. The driver of the small truck crossed over the center line, striking the semi. The passenger of the truck was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries and the driver was arrested for Vehicular Assault. The semi driver was not injured.

The second crash happened on Highway 291 near Nine Mile Falls in Northwest Spokane. Washington State Patrol and Fire crews were called to a vehicle fire in the River Park Estates. Fire crews were able to put the fire out quickly, but Northbound lanes of 291 were shut down for a few hours Friday morning. There were no major injuries in the crash but WSP tells us they plan to arrest the driver of this car on DUI charges when he is released from the hospital.

The third crash happened just after midnight on Friday morning in the area of 6th and Bowdish in Spokane Valley. Police tell us the driver of one of the cars was booked on DUI charges after his car hit a telephone pole and caused another vehicle to crash.
