Spokane's New Recycle Bins Not A Scam

SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane residents should have their new blue recycle carts delivered and ready for use by now.   But an Indian Trail resident called KHQ with a concern that a person was inquiring in her neighborhood about the new bins and noticed that the driver had a Missouri licence plate.

KHQ did some digging to unveil a potential scam.  As it turns out, this is not a scam.

The cart manufacturer hired a company to deliver each cart.  Part of the delivery involves a bar code that identifies one cart with one home.

Scott Windsor with the city's Waste Division said the manufacturer has a company out of Missouri who delivered these carts for them.  He said the company got done about a week ahead of schedule and has the highest regard for them.

He did stress the deliveries for Spokane City customers are now done and should not see anyone inquiring about the bin at your front door.

We also spoke to Marco Gonzalez, the district manager for Waste Management.  They handle the bins for nearly the rest of Spokane County customers.  They're about 3/4 through their bin delivery with the same situation...  The company that waste management hired to build the recycling carts will also be delivering them to your homes.
