GREENACRES, Wash. - Hundreds of people thought the Spokane area gathered at the Sikh Temple to offer support to the Spokane Sikhs after the deadly shooting inside of a Sikh temple in Wisconsin last weekend.
Reverend Todd Eklof set up the event where everyone grabbed hands and surrounded the temple for an hour while the Sikhs were inside praying. Eklof said that this was a special day for everyone in the Spokane community .
'It's creating a relationship between the Sikhs and the larger community that they have never had before. I think that's one of the positives that could come from this tragedy.' Eklof said that he knew this partnership was not just a one day thing. He can't wait until the members is the Sikh community visit his church.
One of the Sikh leaders said it was a special day for His community as well, and a good way to react to the shooting in Wisconsin. 'All of this shows that we refuse to be fearful. We celebrate the good in everyone. I think it's awesome and that's what we want in our community,' Baldey Singh said.
