OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE POLICE DEPT: On January 14, 2013, Spokane Police Officer Nate Spiering responded to DSHS at 1313 N. Atlantic. A female employee reported that when she was parking her car at 6:15am, a woman approached her. The female suspect asked for directions and then began calling the victim names. The suspect yanked the purse from the victim, causing the victim to fall in the process. The suspect fled.
Last night at 10:22pm, Spokane Police Officer Todd Belitz noticed a car driving without its headlights near 3rd Avenue and Fiske St. When he stopped the car, the driver provided a suspended driver's license. There was also a warrant out for her arrest. Upon further investigation, Ofc. Belitz located the robbery victim's credit cards and a work identification card.
Ofc. Belitz determined the suspect, Nicole Houle, had robbed the victim earlier that day, pawned the victim's iPod, used the victim's debit card at a local grocery, used the victim's debit card to fill her gas tank, and sold several of victim's gift cards. Houle admitted using the money to buy drugs.
Houle was booked into the Spokane County Jail.
