Spokane Police Arrest Prolific Burglar and Vehicle Thief

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane Police Patrol Anti-Crime Team arrested 39-year-old Thomas M. Clement, a prolific burglar connected to numerous burglaries and vehicle thefts in Spokane, including the Lincoln Heights burglaries from earlier this year and recent burglaries and vehicle thefts at Spokane Community College.  Clement was arrested on Wednesday however he faces additional charges today {Friday}, as Detectives have connected him with more incidents of burglary and theft. This arrest is an example of Spokane Police relentlessly pursuing active criminals in an effort to reduce crime in Spokane.  

On Wednesday (3-13-13), the Spokane Police Department Patrol Anti-Crime Team (PACT) successfully located Thomas M. Clement near the intersection of Ralph and Riverside.  When Clement was arrested he was driving a stolen Dodge Dakota truck which detectives found to be related to a burglary and 2 reports of car theft on the Spokane Community College Campus earlier this month.  

In relation to the crimes at Spokane Community College, Clement was booked for:

-          1 count of 2nd Degree Burglary

-          2 counts of Vehicle Theft 

Detectives determined that during these crimes, Clement entered locker rooms and used bolt cutters to steal car keys from lockers.  

Detectives have also connected Clement to other recent burglaries including the Lincoln Heights burglaries from late January and early February this year.   Clement is believed to have been working with Curtis D. McKelvey (29 years old) and Chelsea A. Linerud (24 years old) who were arrested on February 4th for several burglaries occurring in the Lincoln Heights area.  These burglaries involved numerous businesses including Radio Shack, Hastings, GameStop, Ace Hardware, and the Eastern Washington Coin Company.  

In the course of their investigation, Spokane Police Detectives were able to connect Clement to the Lincoln Heights burglaries as well.  

Today he is additionally being charged with:

-          2 counts of Burglary

-          1 count of Theft of a Motor Vehicle worth more than $300,000.00

-          1st Degree Trafficking of Stolen Property
