SPD Recovers Carjacking Vehicle Within 20 Minutes Of Theft

SPOKANE, Wash. - Officers recover two occupied stolen vehicles within half hour in same block of north Division.

On 10-19-12 around 8:19pm officers were dispatched to 4100 N Division reference a car jacking which had just occurred at gunpoint. The complainant called in stating a male had put a gun to her head as she was walking to her car and then stole her vehicle. Officers responded to the area and found the suspect vehicle leaving Northtown Mall approximately 20 minutes later. Officers stopped the vehicle in the parking lot of the Office Depot on N Division. The suspect tried to drive away, but officers were able to position their vehicles so he couldn't get out of the parking lot. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. Officers recovered a stolen handgun on the suspect after arresting him. 25 year old Michael Lezard was arrested for 1st Robbery and Possession of a Stolen Firearm.

Sgt Vigesaa cleared the scene of the above vehicle recovery and spotted another occupied stolen vehicle across the street in the Money Tree parking lot. Officers responded to assist him and took the occupants of the vehicle into custody.  The driver of the vehicle, 46 year old Stephen Link, was booked into jail for possession of stolen motor vehicle, possession of methamphetamine and possession of heroin.
