Probable cause exists to arrest and we are seeking help in locating Michael G. Shelly, age 32, from Newport, Washington.
On Friday, July 5, 2013 Deputy Steve Beery attempted to arrest Shelly near Ione as a suspect in a recent burglary. Shelly fled on foot after being told he was under arrest. Shelly was in possession of a Ford F-250 pick-up, which was reported stolen about 2 weeks earlier near Newport. The passenger in the pick-up was identified as Shawn C. Kendle, age 26, also from Newport. Kendle had a felony warrant out of Idaho and was arrested on scene.
While deputies and assisting U.S. Border Patrol Agents conducted a search for Shelly, a red Polaris, ATV was reported stolen about one mile away. A short time later, a witness in Ione advised Shelly had been in Ione on a red ATV matching the stolen ATV and he stated he needed help as he was running from the cops.
Also, during this time frame a burglary was reported near Ione. Items from the burglary were identified in the back of the stolen pick-up. A search warrant was executed on the stolen pick-up on July 7, 2013. Approximately $3,200.00 worth of stolen items from the Ione area burglary was recovered. Additionally, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was located in the vehicle. The Spokane County/City Bomb Squad was called for disposal.
Shawn Kendle faces charges of Unlawful Possession of an Explosive Device, Possession of Stolen Vehicle, Theft of Motor Vehicle, Possession of Stolen Property, Residential Burglary, Burglary Tools and Making False /Misleading Statements to a Public Servant.
A warrant for Michael G. Shelly, WMA, 6'3", 210lbs, Bro, Blue is being sought for Theft of Motor Vehicle, Possession of Stolen Property/Vehicle, Burglary, Resisting Arrest, and Unlawful Possession of Explosive Device.
