PASCO, Wash. (AP) - A Pasco baby is being treated for rabies after it was bitten by a rabid bat on the deck of her grandparents' home. The Tri-City Herald reports the bat flew out of a patio umbrella when Dan Anderson opened it Saturday evening. Sandra Anderson noticed it landed on the back of 11-month old Alanna. Sandra Anderson brushed the bat away and then noticed bite marks on the baby. All three are now getting shots for rabies. The family thought it had seen the last of the bat, but they were on the patio again Sunday when they noticed something black inside the closed umbrella. This time Alanna's father Derek Anderson killed it with a piece of metal. It tested positive for rabies.
