Officer Involved Shooting In Okanogan County

OKANOGAN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE PRESS RELEASE:

On 11-10-12 at approximately 0905 while on patrol Okanogan County Sergeant Tony Hawley observed a vehicle driving at above the posted speed limit. When Sergeant Hawley turned his patrol vehicle around the suspect, Neil S. Mix, 27 YOA While Male of Okanogan, started to elude Sergeant Hawley.

Sergeant Hawley activated his overhead lights and siren and checked into pursuit. The pursuit started on Conconully Street in Okanogan, then onto Wood Hill road and then onto Dry Coulee where Mix lost control of his vehicle which went off an embankment and landed on its top.

As Sergeant Hawley approached the vehicle, Mix broke out the driver's side window, pointed a shotgun out and fired a round. Sergeant Hawley returned fire striking Mix.

Mix and his female passenger were transported to a local medical facility for treatment.

Mix is also wanted in connection with a stabbing that occurred on 10-06-12.

The Officer involved shooting is being investigated by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
