North Spokane Standoff Ends After Suspect Shoots Himself

SPOKANE, Wash. - A standoff in north Spokane ended Sunday morning with the suspect shooting himself in the head.   Police say they were called to a house in the 5700 block of North Stone just after 3:00AM for a report of an intoxicated man. When they arrived they determined that a crime had not been committed and offered to take the 21-year-old to detox treatment. The suspect refused treatment, then went into a room and armed himself with a gun. From there he went into the bathroom and began threatening to harm himself.   After several hours of negotiation, the suspect shot himself in the head shortly after 7:00AM. Police say the man was alive and taken to the hospital for treatment, though as of right now his condition is unknown.
