KHQ.COM - Milfoil treatment at Newman Lake is scheduled for the week of June 24th (treatment could take place the 25th, depending on the weather and lake conditions. Residents with lake front property should have received milfoil treatment notices in the mail.
Over $32,000 will be spent to treat the lake. Residents can help those dollars go further by staying off the lake until Friday, June 28th, so the chemicals have the highest chance of combating the milfoil.
A map of the treatment areas was created utilizing GPS points from the most recent surveys from fall last year and last week, as well as last years' hydro-acoustic survey. The map shows a total of 90.93 acres for both private/Adopt-A-Shoreline areas (18.08 acres), and areas on the north and south that the Newman Lake Flood control Zone District is claiming (72.85 acres). The map is accessible at http://www.nlfczd.org.
