SPOKANE, Wash. - Friends and family came together for the second and final time Friday to pay respects to World War Two Veteran Delbert Belton. 88 year old Belton died after he was randomly assaulted and killed by two teenagers last week.
Police have made two arrests in the case and now 16 year old Kenan Adams-Kinard and 16 year old Demetrius Glenn are in the Spokane County Jail. This was the first opportunity for mourners to share memories of Belton in a memorial service setting.
So many people described him as a man who was kind and gentle, a guy who loved cars, dancing and pool.
"It was just an honor to be around a man who gave everything and asked for nothing," one friend said of Belton. "We loved the man, he was such a contribution to everyone he knew," another mourner said as part of his speech.
This was a more intimate service held at the North Hills Community Church. Close family and friends were in attendance as well different community and business leaders.
Spokane Mayor David Condon was in attendance as well with a couple members of his family.
