TAMPA, Fla. - The Republican National Convention is underway in Tampa and this year the host of the RNC is Eastern Washington Congresswoman for the 5th District, Cathy McMorris Rodgers. Rodgers is not only running her own congressional race this year against Democratic challenger Rich Cowan, she's also been heavily involved in the Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan campaign. McMorris Rodgers is leading their efforts in the United States House of Representatives.
We learned today that the Cowan campaign asked for ten upcoming debates this election season, one in every county within the 5th congressional district. Cathy proposed two debates, both in Spokane. McMorris Rodgers said she will debate Rich Cowan in all 10 counties if Senator Maria Cantwell, a democrat, agrees to debate her opponent Michael Baumgartner in all 39 counties for Washington's United States Senate race. If that does not happen it looks like there will be two debates in the 5th congressional district.
McMorris Rodgers has served as the 5th district Congresswoman since 2005.
