PRESS RELEASE FROM CV HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI AND BOOSTER CLUB:
This weekend Central Valley will host a softball game planned as a fundraiser to start a student assistance fund in memory of Jansen Badinger, the 18-year-old CV student who drowned in the Spokane River On July 23, 2013.
The Central Valley Bear Boosters Club of CVHS wishes to keep the legacy of Jansen Badinger alive, creating the "Jansen's Door" Fund. The fund is intended to provide short term financial assistance to students who attend CV High School; students who are in need and might otherwise not be able to participate in an activity, event, or have the necessary supplies for their studies.
"Every person matters; any person can make a difference. Let's open our hearts...just like Jansen opened the door." This vision embodies what Jansen stood for; and how he lived his life.
The CV High School graduating classes of 1976-1980 are hosting a "Buy Your Way Home" softball game on August 10th, from 10:00am-3:00pm at Central Valley High School.
Fans and players will have the opportunity to pledge money to advance runners around the bases, score runs— or perhaps buy an ‘out' (we can see many teens doing this to their participating parents). All funds raised from this event will be donated directly to Jansen's Door. The Bear Boosters Club will also be selling concessions; in which proceeds are donated to the fund.
A web site and blog page is currently in design; but please visit the Central Valley Bear Boosters Facebook page; www.facebook.com/centralvalleybearboostersclub for more information on this event.
